The Blackhouse Kollective- Soweto invites you to the upcoming Black Power Pan- Afrikanist Decoloniality Winter School, taking place from 29 July to 02 August2025, at different venues, including the Afrikan Freedom Station in Sophiatown (Day 1 & 2), the Institute of Health Sciences at UNISA Thembelihle (Day 3) and the historic Funda Centre in Diepkloof Soweto (Day 4 & 5).
This year’s Winter School, themed “Drumming Up Revolution: A Centenary Celebration and Decolonial Praxis in Honour of Malcolm X, Lumumba and Fanon,” is a cultural activation dedicated to infusing arts education and creative self-expression into historical and cultural narratives. We are centering the drum as a symbol of African spirituality and revolutionary combat, and letter writing as a praxis of memory and imagination. The programme brings together artists, activists, students, and scholar-activists for deep community exchange and learning.
