Explore the raw power of fire, air, earth, and water in Elements, a concert that captures nature’s force through iconic orchestral music. From the stormy drama of Mozart’s Don Giovanni Overture to the shimmering lightness of Strauss’s Fledermaus, the program spans eras and emotions. Highlights include Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite (performed on solo piano), the sweeping magic of Harry Potter, the rugged resolve of Beethoven’s Coriolan, and Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake.
You’ll also journey through the lands of Middle-earth with Howard Shore’s Lord of the Rings Suite, set sail with Hans Zimmer’s Pirates of the Caribbean, and enjoy a special interlude by Coenie de Villiers, one of South Africa’s most celebrated musical icons.
This concert marks the premiere of the orchestral version of Coenie de Villiers’ much-acclaimed Karoo Suite, and a performance of Karoo Suite songs performed live by Coenie himself, alongside Grammy Award-winning guitarist Mauritz Lotz, who also orchestrated the orchestral work. Together, they bring the Karoo’s vast landscapes, haunting beauty, and elemental essence to vivid life.
