Better Together: A Night of Unsettling Encounters and Unexpected Connections
What’s better than one film club?
Correct -Two film clubs. For Spooky Season is enjoyed better together!
The Long Take Film Club and K-Cinema Club join forces to bring two eerie
Korean shorts from this year’s BIFAN (Bucheon International Fantastic Film
Festival) alongside acclaimed drama Aloners.
Join us at The Bioscope for a special evening of unsettling encounters and the
human connections that bring us back together.
The night opens with two new short films from emerging Korean female
directors, bringing supernatural intrigue to the programme: a village hiding
long-buried secrets, a forbidden séance and a mysterious phantom nun.
The feature is the internationally acclaimed Aloners (2021), a quiet,
perceptive portrait of aloneness in contemporary city life. The film screened
at the Toronto, San Sebastián and Hong Kong International Film Festivals, and
won the Grand Prix at the Osaka Asian Film Festival, Best New Director at
Cairo, Best Actress at Torino, and the Special Jury Prize and NETPAC Award at
Vesoul.
Discussions follow both the short-film programme and the feature.
