SAPRA Halloween is back — and bigger than ever!Over the years, our Halloween celebration has become one of the highlights of the Saxonwold & Parkwood calendar. Last year we welcomed more than 700 people for an unforgettable afternoon filled with costumes, treats and community spirit. The atmosphere was electric, and the laughter and excitement could be felt throughout the neighbourhood.
Growing bigger, getting betterThe incredible growth of our Halloween event means we’re making some changes this year to ensure everyone enjoys the day safely and comfortably. With more families, more stops and more excitement than ever before, we’re also calling on residents across both Saxonwold and Parkwood to get involved — whether by dressing up, hosting a trick-or-treat stop or simply walking the route with your neighbours.
Why it matters — where your support goesHalloween is more than just a fun afternoon out — it’s a chance to invest back into our neighbourhood. All the funds raised from community events like Halloween go directly into the upliftment and enhancement of Fearnhead Park. Thanks to your support over the past few years, we are now building a brand new bike track at Fearnhead Park — an exciting project that will benefit children and families for years to come.
What’s changing this yearTo keep everyone safe and make the day even more enjoyable, we’re adjusting our Halloween walkabout:Everyone - adults and kids (except for children 3 and under) - will need to buy a ticket for the walkaboutWe’ll begin and end at Fearnhead Park, creating a central hub for the event. We have applied to close Blandford Road (from Fearnhead Park along Wells to after Worcester Rd), as well as Rutland and Worcester Roads.
More details will be shared soon.
Get your street involved! This year we want every street in Saxonwold and Parkwood to join the fun by setting up a Halloween stand along Blandford and Wells Roads. Whether it’s spooky games, themed décor, or bowls of sweets — the more variety, the better the atmosphere!
Don’t worry if you’re short on time or ideas: SAPRA will help with decorations and sweets to get you started. All you need to do is gather a few neighbours, pick a theme, and bring the community spirit.

Bigger than our communityThis year, SAPRA is proud to partner with our adopted NGO, Ingelosi Foundation, who work with underprivileged youths in Johannesburg. While donating sweets for Halloween, we encourage you to also drop off a toiletry item to support Ingolosi’s incredible work.
In addition, any cash donations we receive will be split 50/50 for sweets for halloween and the Ingelosi Foundation. Cash donations can be made here:Bank: FNBAccount name: SAPRAAccount number: 63129202931
Sweet donationsFunds raised through the sale of tickets cover the essentials — road closures, marshals, and everything that makes Halloween both safe and spectacular. But we still need your help with sweet and snack donations to make the afternoon magical for the kids. These will be shared amongst the houses and street stands.
Donations can be dropped off at Meter Mate - 133 Jan Smuts avenue, Parkwood, Johannesburg
