This is Ecofluency’s first event in Johannesburg!

Dr Saskia von Diest will present an interactive evening talk on the fundamentals of Ecofluency, the science, art and magic of two-way communication with the rest of Nature, which can be accessed through expanding our range of sensory awareness.

The future of Earth’s well-being doesn’t need our absence, but our full human presence. And dialogue with more-than-humans is a key for us to be fully present and co-create our future will all of life on Earth.Discover how attuning the body as a listening instrument can help us reclaim our role as keystone species and ritualists in regenerating ecosystems, for both inner and outer landscapes.

This evening taster of Ecofluency is held 2 days ahead of the day workshop on Conversations with Fungi that will be hosted with Afrifungi on Sat 16 August, also at Fibonacci House. We’d love to see you at both events!

All levels of experience are welcome, and we will touch on communication with animals, plants, insects, microbes, water, rocks, stars and any other non- human Nature.

Why is Nature communication important?

Nature communication can dramatically change your life, like it has done for me and so many others.

Why? Because we are all born with the ability to deeply communicate with Nature - we are Nature - many of us have just forgotten how to use it.Reclaiming the power of this ancient birth right allows access to the deeper knowledge and wisdom of Nature that is not often available to our logical human minds.

As we relearn how to cultivate our intuitive connection and conversation with Nature, this helps us make more holistic and efficient practical decisions in all aspects of our lives: growing food, choosing a place to live, understanding the behaviour of wild or domestic animals, creating rituals and ceremonies for inspiration and abundance, expanding your professional work in ecological alignment, or healing traumas to grow spiritually and become whole.

It is a critical skill for empowering physical, mental and emotional vitality, to grow beyond resilience into a dynamic state of thriving. It offers a key to unlock greater joy and harmony in our relationships with ourselves, other humans, and the rest of Nature.

And the best part is that it’s easier than you’d expect, because this way of communicating exists beyond all languages. By expanding our range of sensory awareness, we can dialogue with any aspect of the more-than-human world in an everyday state of consciousness. And the principles are the same, whether you choose to converse with small plants or towering trees, tiny insects or large mammals, clods of compost or constellations of stars.Most importantly, human existence with other species depends on dialogue with them, as they call on us to co-evolve and create our future in alignment with Nature.

Your host

This evening event is offered by Dr Saskia von Diest, founder of Ecofluency, as well as consultant, educator and activist in the field of Nature communication.

Attending an animal communication workshop 13 years ago, during my PhD in Plant Pathology, sparked my interest in investigating intuitive farming, i.e. how farmers use intuitive communication with nature to inform their practical management decisions. From 2014-2020, I held two postdoctoral fellowships, at Stellenbosch University, and at Coventry University in the UK, to pursue this research, and have presented my findings on international platforms.Throughout my postdoctoral years, I attended numerous workshops and courses in different countries, to train and develop my own understanding and practice in communication with trees, animal, land, nature spirit and ancestors. I’ve trained as a facilitator in Family Constellations, and in the Way of the Warrior Healer.

In 2021, I founded Ecofluency, an organisation that offers consulting, teaching and facilitation in Nature communication, and promotes other voices in this field. With 14 years of experience in teaching and facilitating through various forms and in many countries, my passion is creating opportunities for others to have their own experience of communicating with non-human Nature, and develop that for their own and the collective benefit.Read more about me on the Ecofluency website, https://www.ecofluency.org

When and where

This Ecofluency event will begin at 19:00 for 19:30, and finish at around 21:00.

It will be held at Fibonacci House, 37 Young Avenue, Houghton Estate, Johannesburg, South Africa.Secure, off-street parking available for all participants.

Tickets

Spaces are limited due to venue size.My mission is to make this work accessible, so two types of tickets are available, and I cover Quicket’s fees and commission:- Normal tickets - R250 pp- Reduced tickets for farmers or beekeepers - R180 pp

A large portion of my work is pro bono, so that more people are able to reawaken their Nature communication ability. However, Ecofluency is not registered as a charity, and therefore receives no tax benefits, as I still operate as a sole trader. So any donations made with your ticket are deeply appreciated, and will help to cover my time in offering this work to lower income individuals and organisations.
