When entrepreneur Iain Buchan and his wife Carol bought a farm with a rundown motel in the KZN midlands, they dreamed of creating a splendid garden to rival some of those they had seen in Europe. Tim Steyn was called in and had just completed the drawings when the pandemic hit and the country was locked down. Unbowed, Iain summoned his motel managers and staff and together with Tim they built the ambitious gardens on what had been just a grassy slope. Within a few years Brahman Hills had caught the attention of the Royal Horticultural Society in Britain, which selected it as a Partner Garden in 2023, and it went on to win the RHS Regional Winner award for that year. Brahman Hills: The Making of a World-class Garden not only showcases the estate but shares Tim’s expertise in designing and planting it.
Tim Steyn is an acclaimed landscape designer with clients all over the world. Michele Magwood is an award-winning writer and editor.
All proceeds will go towards Masibambisane , a daycare centre for children in need.
