UPSO Gala Concert 2024
Join us for a delightful afternoon as the University of Pretoria Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Winds conclude their 2024 season. Under the direction of conductor Schalk van der Merwe, this concert features a powerful new work, beloved ballet music, and a masterful concerto performance.
The programme opens with The Light We Cast by M. Pege, a commissioned piece reflecting upon global challenges before inspiring hope for a brighter future. Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake Suite follows, bringing the timeless magic of this cherished ballet to life. Finally, Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 will be performed by Tessa Rhoodie, lecturer in the University’s Music Department, showcasing her remarkable artistry.
We conclude the programme with a delightful cheese and wine spread in the amphitheatre accompanied by our beloved Symphonic Wind Orchestra on the outdoor stage.
