The Ntu Collective
Hailing from Pretoria, The Ntu Collective is an emerging South African jazz
ensemble made up of former students from the University of Pretoria (UP) and
Tshwane University of Technology (TUT). Founded in 2023 by brothers Nhlalontle
and Njabulo, the group has developed a distinctive sound that blends
contemporary jazz with the rich rhythms, melodies, and spiritual traditions of
African and indigenous South African music.
Their music is deeply connected to the African continent, combining warm brass melodies reminiscent of traditional horns with intricate polyrhythms influenced by genres such as marabi and mbaqanga.
