Msodra Lite is a coming of age narrative about the life of a young boy Thapelo Rammila aka Msodra who finds his rooting in Soweto pre democracy, during the era of negotiations that saw the rise of the Inkatha violence is uprooted by circumstance into the hardcore landscapes and waters of the Vaal where he is not accepted as a native. Having endured severe trauma of growing up in an environment of hectic domestic violence from his father towards his mother, his grandfather killing his father and being separated from his grandmother his life is marred with tribulations that seem impossible to overcome.
Beyond this he moves to the Vaal where violence and crime are the social and economic currency and he finds himself entangled in all of that leaving blood on his hands and turning him into the monster that we see. Death and its complexities follow him until he finds work at the public morgue where he meets his apprentice Malefu who is to change his life forever. He also finds true love in the midst of this, his high school love who bears him a child he does not get to raise. Dealing with the ghost of his past, the wrath of the present and impossibilities of the future, Msodra must find reconcile with the past, reconfigure the present and reimagine his future. Will he make it out of this alive?
