Circle follows the life of Michael, a student leader that got expelled from university for organizing a protest against a proposed 33% fee increase, he finds himself adrift and struggling to rebuild his future. Hoping for a fresh start, he takes a job on a construction site, only to once again find himself confronting injustices.
Presented as part of the Market Theatre Alumni Festival, Circle is a compelling one-man performance starring Tau Maserumule. The play follows Michael, a former university student whose future is derailed after he is expelled for organizing a protest against a proposed 33% fee increase. Through humour, storytelling and sharp social commentary, Circle explores the realities of youth unemployment, inequality and the difficult choices people make in pursuit of dignity and survival. As his determination to stand up for what is right repeatedly lands him in trouble, Michael is forced to navigate an increasingly complex and dangerous world.
