Selinah the musical is a fresh theatre piece that captures the mayhem and a
few melancholic social ills that came with the national lockdown which took
the entire globe by a storm, just a few years ago. Unfortunately, most of the
traces of lockdown aftermath still live with us on daily basis.
Selinah storyline is based in the squatter camps of Senthumule (Koster) where
the successful preacher becomes aggressively victim of committing Gender
Based-Violence to her own wife. This occurs after all his business endeavours
crumbled due to the curfews and somewhat unreasonable laws set forth by the
Corona Virus Command Council. MmaMoruti (pastor’s wife) got forced by
circumstances compelling her unlawful decisions just to make ends meet, which
included an affair with the church elder and other single squatter camp
dwellers and migrant labourers.
The story is told through brilliantly penned dialogue, original music scores and perfection acting styles, starring the seasoned Sello Sebotsane as the lead role actor.
