On the 5th of July, 3 PM afternoon SITTOPERA ™ will present at the ROODEPOORT THEATRE one of the most promising South African young tenors and composers in a concert called:

Ongama Mhlontlo, tenor and composer
“Born in the Eastern Cape, singing in the USA”

Ongama Mhlontlo was born 1996 in the Eastern Cape, in Mthatha and moved due to his musical talent to Cape Town to obtain a BMusic at the prestigious UCt Opera School .He then moved to the US obtaining a Master of Music degree at the Manhattan School of Music 2021.
Since 2015 he performs own compositions and arrangements. Own compositions including a ‘world premier” will pay a significant part in the coming concert. Since 2016 he appears on stage, covering roles and pieces from the Baroque to the Viennese Classic and the Romantic realm but also covering Modern Music. 2023 he appeared already for SITTOPERA in a concert at the Rand Club “Sing that! Compose that!”. Presently he works on an opera called “King Mamani” presenting the dramatic political and private live of a 18th century Xhosa princess. Ongama being also a member of the Royal Xhosa house this plot interests him due to various reasons.
The concert is also supported by B-Sharp Musical Academy.
Later on ( in August) Ongama will do a concert in Cape Town and then joined by another Royal talent from Venda, Monthati Masebe, an accomplished piano player and composer who also studies since two years in the US for her PhD.
