A journey from soul to colour - through dance.

Nateshwar Dance Academy - Gauteng is proud to present Rooh aur Rang, an enchanting celebration of Indian dance that takes audiences on a journey from the depth and spirituality of the soul to the vibrant colours of life.

At its heart, Rooh aur Rang explores the powerful connection between Rooh - the soul.. and Rang - colour. Through the language of dance, the production moves from the introspective, soulful world of Sufi-inspired Kathak dance into the energy, vibrancy and celebration of Bollywood.
Presented by the students of Nateshwar Dance Academy Gauteng, the production brings together dancers across different ages and levels in a colourful and emotive showcase of Indian dance. The show unfolds in three parts:

Whispers of Noor - The Divine Within The journey begins with the dancers seeking divine blessings through devotional music and the graceful movements of Kathak. Drawing inspiration from the spiritual traditions that are deeply woven into Indian classical dance, this opening section sets the tone for the journey ahead.

Echoes of Rooh - A Soulful Journey into Sufi-inspired Kathak dance The second section turns inward, exploring love, longing, devotion and the many emotions of the human soul. Through soulful music and expressive Kathak-fusion movement, the dancers explore the quieter, deeper shades of Rooh.

A Symphony of Rang – A Celebration of Colour The final section bursts into life with the vibrancy and exuberance of Bollywood, filled with colour, rhythm and infectious energy. This celebration of Rang brings the journey full circle – from the soul to the colourful expression of life.

Rooh aur Rang is more than a dance showcase for the academy. It is an opportunity for students to experience the discipline and beauty of Indian dance while sharing their passion with an audience.

“Rooh aur Rang is a dance showcase of the journey within and the colours we express on the outside. Through Kathak, Folk and Bollywood, our students tell a story of devotion, joy and celebration,” says Devitha Dehaloo, Head of Nateshwar Dance Academy, Gauteng.

Nateshwar Dance Academy has a long-standing tradition of teaching and performing Indian dance since 1980, with students of various ages embracing Kathak, Folk Dance and Bollywood. The Gauteng branch, situated in Sandton and Midrand, continues this tradition by providing dancers with opportunities to learn, perform and grow through dance over the past ten years.

Audiences can expect two shows filled with nostalgic music, beautiful choreography, colourful costumes and the passion of young and adult dancers alike.
