The Orchestra plays the accompaniment for seven beautiful and exciting
concertos. The Soloists are youngsters between the ages of 11 and 18 years
old. These super-talented young masters perform with professional style and
technique, and the works have been chosen to delight and to be enjoyed by the
audience. The Youth Orchestra is also enlarged with some adult professionals.
There are three impressive piano concertos, a clarinet concerto, a violin
concerto, and two Songs from the world of theatre. Haydn, Shostakovitch and
Khachatorian, and Krommer, Monti, the Sound of Music and West side story.
Pienaar Fourie conducts the East Rand Youth Orchestra, supporting all the different soloists, and sharing their performance and expression. Something he has been doing for the past 50 years.
Join us at this annual Concerto concert on either Saturday 28 June, or Sunday 29 June 2025, in the St. Dunstans EJ Butler Centre for the Arts at 2:30 pm. And bring your children to experience the joy of sharing good music.
