The colourful suburb of Kensington is filled with stories, so join your guides Antoinette Morgan and Isabella Pingle for a beautiful walking tour that wanders through time and terrain — from a curious cave, to the legend of a baby, to unusual geological formations and the “unknown” lava valley that shaped the suburb’s landscape.

The walk includes a trek up to the summit of Langerman Kop where we’ll enjoy sweeping 360-degree views of Johannesburg framed by purple Jacaranda canopies, as we uncover the layered history that makes Kensington one of the city’s most fascinating heritage neighbourhoods.

This is a moderately strenuous walk, including a steep climb up Langerman Kop and sections of uneven terrain. Please wear suitable walking shoes, bring a sun hat and sunscreen, and carry plenty of water. Total walking distance is approximately 3 km. Please note the early start time, to avoid the heat.

We’ll meet at the Kensington Bowls Club and, after the walk, you are welcome to stay on to enjoy the club’s restaurant facilities for a well-deserved lunch (for your own account).
