Children may not grasp this just yet, but each learning step takes them closer to understanding the importance of caring for the environment.

The focus of this outing will be on the importance and workings of ecosystems: the biological community of interacting organisms and their physical environment.

There is no doubt that children will have learned all about ecosystems in school but reading about it in a textbook and actually experiencing it are two very different things.

As we all know seeing is believing. This event will help children visualize what they have learned. Experiencing the grasslands around them and building their own terrariums, representative of an ecosystem, will help them to relate to what they have been told.

Of course, there will still be lots of fun to be had at this outing. It’s not all work and no play as the children explore the workings of the natural world. Hopefully they take home a better understanding of relationships in nature and memories of a wonderful morning spent outdoors in nature.

This event will be taking place at The Sheds @ Birdsong, Gemstone Road (off the R511), Crocodile River Reserve on Saturday the 30th of November. It will start at 8h30 and finish at 1h00. The costs are R70 per child. All ages welcome.

Please ensure your child has a hat, sunscreen and a snack lunch.
