UP School of the ArtsLocations Series presents:
FIRELIGHT
An intimate evening of music, projected imagery and firelit gathering in the Visual Arts Courtyard at UP.
For one evening, the courtyard will be transformed by fire braziers lit for warmth, ambient projections across the Visual Arts walls featuring School of the Arts works, and live acoustic music performed beneath the winter sky. Guests will gather amongst candlelit tables as music, architecture and atmosphere merge into a shared artistic space unlike the traditional concert hall experience.
The evening features award-winning South African musician and UP alumnus Leon Gropp alongside acclaimed composer, musician and School of the Arts alumnus Atlegang Milanzi, forming an intimate ensemble of voice, guitar, strings and piano in a programme of cinematic crossover works, acoustic storytelling and warm contemporary arrangements specially curated for the setting.
Guests will be welcomed with warm soup and freshly baked bread as the School of the Arts opens one of its hidden creative spaces for an evening centred on atmosphere, connection and the rare opportunity to experience UP’s artistic spaces in a completely different way.
