We are honoured to host the quintessential South African Music Legend bra Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse on the Untitled Basement stage, to celebrate his birthday and pay tribute to his 5 decades indelible contribution to South African music and culture.
With an illustrious career evolving over the decades, member of the Pan Africanist global touring group Harari to a highly impactful solo career boasting multiple number one hits such as Shikisha and Burnout, the artist from Soweto, a master of multiple instruments, defied genres and trends past and present, multiple generations have danced to his iconic sounds.
Throughout his career, Mabuse has performed with some of the greatest names in music. Including Stevie Wonder, Miriam Makeba, Hugh Masekela, Brenda Fassie and more.
Recognised for his contributions to the arts and social change with the (South African Music Awards) SAMA ‘Lifetime Achievement’ Award and the Order of Ikhamanga amongst many more, Mabuse played a pivotal role in shaping South Africa’s musical identity and continue to inspire artists and fans worldwide.
This year, Sipho “Hotstix” Mabuse will celebrate his birthday with an unforgettable performance on 29 November 2024 at Untitled Basement. Join us in honouring the legendary artist whose music has touched hearts, united a nation, and stood the test of time.
About the Legacy SeriesThe legacy Series is a highly sought after monthly Jazz and Alternative music platform celebrating the Legends and pioneers of our rich music heritage. The Artists we feature typically have long standing careers and a deep connection with their community and fans. The series aims to ensure our legends have a home, and a quality platform to share their music in an elevated setting.
