Born into a lineage of rich musical tradition, Thando Zide (Thandokazi Phanyaphanya) was destined to leave her mark on the world through song.

Hailing from Soweto, Johannesburg, the singer-songwriter was immersed in music before she even took her first breath. Her formal introduction to music came at the National School of the Arts in Braamfontein, where her passion for performance was nurtured and refined. There, she became an integral part of the school orchestra and choir, and later co-founded an a cappella group with peers.
