We are celebrating the National Science Week from Monday 4 August - Wednesday 6 August.
Fulldome shows
On Monday 4 August we will be showing “100 Years of Eternity” at the Wits Anglo American Digital Dome at 10:00 and then again at 14:00. The theme of this one-hour fulldome planetarium show is this year being the centennial of the invention of the projection planetarium. We will embark on a journey which begins with the early cultures of humankind and leads along an ever-changing view of the night sky to the modern star theatre.
The fulldome show is suitable for 14 years and above; it is not suitable for younger children.Strictly no late entryChildren below 5 years old are not allowed for any shows at the Digital Dome.
Public Talks
Monday 4 August, 18:00 - 19:00 - Professor Matt Hilton will talk on “The Oldest Light in the Universe” on the Cosmic Microwave Background.Tuesday, 5 August, 18:00 - 19:00 - Professor Deepak Kar will talk on “Searching for the greatest mystery in the universe using the biggest experiment” on Dark Matter search using the Large Hadron Collider.Wednesday, 6 August, 18:00 - 19:00 - Ms Fazilah Nothlawala will talk on “Quantum imaging ghosts with patterns of light” .
There will be some light refreshments after the public talks.
